Ira BlakeLight My Space
I’m Ira of Light My Space, a lighting design company, that I co-own with my husband, James Humphries. We live in Porton with our two Norwegian Forest cats.
Before Light My Space, we owned a management consultancy business, Uncommon Expertise Ltd., and I specialized in Organisation Change Management & Capability Development. My first book on Change Management was published by the Financial Times-Prentice Hall and I have written several chapters, articles and papers subsequently published by Kogan Page and the Change Management Institute (CMI). I remain one of only 4 Global Assessors for CMI’s Accredited Change Management Master qualification, am MCIPD qualified and have an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
After 10 successful years, we felt we had had enough of corporate consultancy and wanted to do something that more enjoyable, interesting and that deepened our roots and connections where we live.
Light My Space was started in 2007 as a hobby, providing lighting solutions for friends and family and then getting commissions from homeowners and small businesses. Early in 2017 we decided to fully dedicate our time and effort to lighting design. We enjoy the challenge of finding lighting options for individuals and their unique spaces and believe that any space can be improved with great lighting design. We offer a bespoke design service and a key aspect of getting this right is measuring and identifying the required light level to ensure that options are appropriate for tasks, social activities and relaxation.
Decades of project management experience gained from corporate roles means we know how important a client’s requirements are; that they are busy and want a great result with good communication and minimal inconvenience. It also means that we need to be available to show and discuss lights in the evening and work around a client’s work and family commitments.
