Winterbury Training
Industry:
Health and Safety
I founded Winterbury Training in 2017 after a successful career as a classroom teacher at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, and have built clinical experience in the field of first aid through service as a Community First Responder with the South West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, including 3 months as full ambulance crew during the first pandemic lockdown. I have significant experience in the education sector, having worked not only in teaching but also as Business Manager in a primary school, Exams Officer and Admissions Officer in a sixth form college and Chair of Governors. I am currently the Chair of Directors of the John McNeill Opportunity Centre, which is a nursery for children with special and complex needs in South Wiltshire, and Foundation Governor at Winterslow Primary School. Most of the training I offer is statutory and the subjects can be serious and heavy, but I don’t believe that training needs to be serious to be effective. My courses are frequently described as fun, enjoyable, topical, relevant and engaging – fairly rare in the field of health and safety! I am passionate about the quality of teaching and training and also work as a quality assurer for other training centres. I have had a lifelong love of music and have taught piano for over 30 years, teaching both adults and children to play both for personal satisfaction and to gain qualifications. I live in Winterslow with my husband (also a qualified first aid instructor) and sons and spend any free time knee deep in soil on my allotment.
